Doctors reveal: Potassium supplements may be the secret weapon against heart failure

A study known as the POTCAST trial discovered that maintaining high-normal potassium levels (4.55.0 mmol/L) may minimize the risk of dangerous cardiac incidents in people with implanted defibrillators. Over 3.3 years, volunteers with higher potassium had exhibited arrhythmias, hospitalizations, and cardiac crises compared to those untreated. However, experts warn that too much potassium can be just as harmful, resulting in critical complications such as ventricular fibrillation.
