Child marriage curb: Maharashtra considering a rule mandating birth dates on wedding cards

Maharashtra is exploring printing birth dates on wedding invitations to combat child marriages, aiming to reduce incidents to under 10% in five years. The state is studying Rajasthan's successful model. While child marriage rates have declined, authorities have intervened in over 1,400 cases recently, registering numerous FIRs. Enhanced detection and intervention are credited for increased prevention numbers, with efforts also targeting priests and facilitators.
