Birendra Baishya elected head of joint panel of Parliament on salary of MPs

Birendra Prasad Baishya, a Rajya Sabha member from Asom Gana Parishad, will chair the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament for the 2026-27 term. The committee, comprising members from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, frames rules for MP salaries, allowances, and pensions. This appointment was unanimously decided at a recent sitting.
