Jagran Film Festival: Paresh Rawal makes a SHOCKING confession: Only 11 out of my 250 films were good; names Hera Pheri, Sardar, Tamanna; declines to say Baburao's dialogue: Uske liye ticket lena padega!
Paresh Rawal, Aditya Rawal, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Sharib Hashmi and director Ananth Narayan Mahadevan attended the premiere of their film Pastt Tense at the 14th edition of Jagran Film Festival at a multiplex in Mumbai. The festival organizers first played the film and it surprised the attendees due to the powerful plot, intriguing moments and memorable performances. After the screening, the team of the film came on stage and talked about the film. Paresh Rawal stole the show with his honest comments. He plays a man with a negative role and he opened up about it and then also looked back at his illustrious career. The host asked Paresh Rawal, in regard to the context of the film, whether he has done roles in the 80s and 90s where he is laughing while assaulting a female character? The veteran actor replied, Yes, yes. I have done plenty of such roles. Those roles were so idiotic and ridiculous that we had to make it amusing. Warna aapko bhi maza nahin aata aur dekhne waale ko bhi mazaa nahin aata. At the end of the session, Aditya Rawal remarked that his father, Paresh Rawal, has completed 40 years in the acting business. On this, the host asked him if he has ever counted how many films he has done in his career. Paresh Rawal answered, No. Jo acchi films hain, woh mujhe pata hain kitni hain! The host guessed that Paresh Rawal must have worked in 250 films. The actor said, Yes, it could be more. And how many of them were good in his opinion? Paresh instantly said, 11! The crowd was amazed while Aditya Rawal said, We had counted. Paresh Rawal then opened up about these memorable films, There was one role that I was very happy essaying. I put a lot of hard work into it and that was Sardar (1993). I got a chance to do a biopic. It was very close to my heart. He added, Another role, which was also sort of a biopic, was Tamanna (1997). But that films second half went haywire. It was based on a real-life character, Tiku. Then came Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (2008). Its also close to my heart. In Mumbai Meri Jaan (2008), I got to essay a lovely character. The Storyteller (2025) mein bahut maza aaya, followed by Hera Pheri (2000), Dacait (1987), etc. I cant list all 11, but I can assure you there are 11 such films! Which villainous role would he pick as his most satisfying one? Paresh Rawal stated, I would pick Dacait. Otherwise, villain ka role karne mein mazaa nahin aata tha. Our writers could do better with villain roles. Aisa nahin lagna chahiye ki villain-villain hain. You should feel that I have seen this man at a bus stand or a taxi stand. That adds to the impact. Woh stupid tarah ke, get up aur daadhi-mooch laga ke aa jaate hain, woh bahut hi ghatiya tarah ke hote hain. I detest those roles! Some audience members and organizers requested Paresh Rawal to deliver a dialogue as his iconic Hera Pheri character, Baburao. The actor left everyone in splits as he replied, Nahin, nahin. Uske liye ticket lena padega! Also Read: Malamaal Weekly 2 EXCLUSIVE: Riteish Deshmukh, Elvish Yadav, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav locked in leads, shoot begins in November
