Western region records highest turnout in Tamil Nadu elections 2026

Western Tamil Nadu witnessed a significant surge in voter turnout, exceeding 88% and surpassing 2021 levels, particularly in AIADMK strongholds like Salem. The ruling DMK's northern bastion also saw a substantial increase. While Karur district topped the state with over 92% turnout, the southern region lagged behind with lower participation.
