Karur stampede: Madras high court quashes govt jobs for victims' kin, says employment must be earned

The Madras High Court has overturned the provision of government jobs to 31 family members of the victims of the Karur stampede, underlining that public employment is not a privilege to be granted indiscriminately. The court highlighted that jobs should be acquired through merit. Furthermore, it proposed skill training and entrepreneurship as preferable avenues for assistance to the affected families, cautioned against creating a surge of similar requests.
