Maryland's 1924 McCormick-Goodhart Mansion stood empty for years; CASA restored the house as a social services center, preserving its grand staircase and adding a green roof

The McCormick-Goodhart Mansion in Langley Park was initially built in 1924 and later became a community hub. After being left empty for years, CASA de Maryland purchased it in 2009. The renovation utilized historic tax credits and aimed for LEED Gold certification. Modern eco-friendly features were added while restoring the mansion's historical elements, including the staircase. This transformation highlights the potential of older buildings to serve new purposes within communities.
