Delhi-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr Obaidur Rahman has warned that India is facing a growing antibiotic resistance crisis driven by rampant misuse of Azithromycin. In an Instagram video, he said this commonly used tablet is losing effectiveness, with the country now showing nearly 80 to 90 percent resistance in cases of Mycoplasma Pneumonia. He urged people to stop taking antibiotics for routine viral infections, stressing that unchecked over the counter use could create a major public health emergency.
