IIT Guwahati converts local bamboo into high-performance automotive materials

IIT Guwahati researchers have engineered an eco-friendly composite material from 'Bambusa tulda' bamboo and biodegradable polymers, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional plastics in automotive interiors. The composite exhibits high strength, thermal stability, and low moisture absorption. This innovative material, costing Rs. 4300 per kilogram, aligns with the 'Make in India' policy and contributes to sustainable development goals.
