Boston Light, located in Boston Harbor, was the last manually operated lighthouse in the United States. The light became automated in 1998, but remained staffed until 2023 due to Congressional authorization. Sally Snowman, the last keeper, held the position for 20 years and retired in 2023. The original lighthouse was built in 1716, although the current structure dates back to 1783.
