Nitesh Tiwari reveals Sai Pallavis Goddess Sita will have action sequences in Ramayana: She does have action in hers too

Director Nitesh Tiwari has offered insight into how Sai Pallavis portrayal of Goddess Sita will be shaped in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of Ramayana. Speaking to international media at the films Los Angeles premiere, the filmmaker revealed that the character will have action sequences, with the creative team drawing inspiration from the warrior princess depiction of Sita in Adbhut Ramayan. Addressing the idea of Sita being presented as a warrior, Tiwari explained that the makers have been mindful of distinguishing between elements of the epic where creative liberties can be explored and those that require fidelity to the source material. He said, So, she does have action in hers too. We are very clear that there are certain things, certain characters where we can take liberties and there are certain characters where we just should not be taking any liberty. So, like Lord Ram, you know, in every version which we have in our country, he is Lord Ram. Maa Sita has somewhere, like you mentioned, the warrior version. She, in Adbhut Ramayan, is portrayed as a warrior princess. That element we took from there, which kind of adds nice dimension to her as a character. In the world we are building, say, for example, in creatures, in the Airavat, which is the flying elephant or the monsters which are Tarkans or Bahau or even, you know, Pushpak Viman, now they are not sacrosanct. The director further elaborated on the visual and narrative aspects where the team has exercised creative freedom, including the appearance of different locations and the depiction of action. However, he maintained that the central narrative remains rooted in the scripture. Tiwari added, This is where we could have taken a liberty and we did that. In the world building, how Ayodhya looks, how Lanka looks, how Mithila looks, how the forest looks, how they transform, how Ram fights with these demons. This is where we have taken certain liberties. Otherwise, we have stuck to the scripture and we have remained honest. Nitesh Tiwari explained how he drew inspiration from Adbhut Ramayan to portray Sita as a warrior princess, while keeping Lord Rams divine portrayal untouched. He also clarified that the scriptures remain untouched, with creative liberties taken only in the world-building of Ramayana.
