Ahmednagar becomes Ahilyanagar in a historic move by Indian Railways

The change was announced by the Central Railways Pune Division, following the Government of Maharashtras decision to rename the city of Ahmednagar itself to Ahilyanagar. The renaming is part of an effort to pay tribute to Ahilyabai Holkars contributions to public welfare and governance during her reign in the 18th century
