West Bengal bypolls: 19,000 voters barred as crippled tribunals leave appeals pending

Nearly 19,000 voters in Nandigram and Rejinagar were barred from voting in the West Bengal bypolls as Appellate Tribunals cleared just 93 appeals ahead of polling, leaving 99.5% of local petitions unresolved. The systemic disenfranchisement unfolded alongside widespread polling disruptions, including the detention of AJUP chief Humayun Kabir in Rejinagar and a Congress leader in Nandigram, amid allegations of booth capturing and EVM glitches.
