West Bengal govt takes big step, 'Janata Darbar' to be held twice a week at offices

The West Bengal government has decided to strengthen its public grievance redressal mechanism by holding 'Janata Darbar' at government offices twice a week. Under the expanded system, field-level officials will be required to meet citizens face-to-face and listen to their complaints every Tuesday and Thursday. Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari had launched the 'Aapnar Sarkar Aapnar Pashe' (Your Government, With You) initiative to directly hear the grievances of people. As part of the programme, he personally holds a 'Janata Darbar' every week, interacting with citizens and listening to their problems and complaints. An online system has also been introduced to facilitate the submission and tracking of grievances. The Nabanna administration has now moved to further strengthen the initiative and make it easier for people across the state to access government officials directly.
