Your Thanksgiving and Christmas flight could still stay expensive long after jet fuel prices come down

Jet fuel prices have moved dramatically since the Iran war began. The Argus U.S. Jet Fuel Index climbed to $4.88 a gallon in early April. By June, it had fallen to $2.70. Airfares, however, did not follow the same path and remained high. The average domestic fare stood at $405 in the final quarter of 2025.
