Why dont you give New Jersey to the Israelis?: Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda commander, recalls his joke to Trump over Golan Heights

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa spoke at an Atlantic Council panel in New York regarding the Golan Heights. He made a joke to US President Donald Trump about the territory and New Jersey. Al-Sharaa emphasized that the Golan Heights belongs to its people and cannot be given away. He acknowledged Israel-Syria negotiations had almost reached 90% agreement in the past.
