Wholewheat biscuit made with 52% maida and only 19.5% wheat, company said the name was just a trademark; CCPA orders Rs 1 lakh fine for misleading consumers

McVities Wholewheat Marie biscuits contained 52% maida and only 19.5% whole wheat flour, according to the CCPA. Pladis argued that Wholewheat was a registered trademark and pointed to a disclaimer. The CCPA rejected the defence, called the packaging misleading and ordered the company to pay Rs 1 lakh.
