States cannot cite financial burden to oppose raising retirement age of judicial officers: SC

The Supreme Court has asked all state governments to reconsider raising the retirement age of judicial officers and take a decision within two weeks, saying financial burden is not a valid reason to oppose the move. The court said retaining experienced judges could be less costly than replacing them and filling vacancies.
