Scientists develop high-performance plastic from CO2 that can be repeatedly recycled

A study from Colorado State University and Northwestern University has developed a carbon dioxide-based polyester system designed for repeated chemical recycling. Using bicyclic butane and bicyclic pentane, researchers produced high-molar-mass materials with up to 50 mol% CO2 incorporation. The polymers showed tunable properties, while separate depolymerisation pathways allowed molecular building blocks to be recovered and reused.
