Not even $10,000 per household could convince this rural US town to stop protesting an AI data center

A Pennsylvania town was offered $10,000 for each of its roughly 4,500 households as part of a proposed AI data center project, but many residents refused to accept the money. NorthPoint Development proposed a $45 million payout to residents along with a $120 million community investment if Hazle Township approved zoning changes.
