Meet Jeanette Vizguerra, the Mexican immigrant who defied ICE, found church sanctuary, made Times 100 Most Influential People list and won the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award

Jeanette Vizguerra arrived in the US from Mexico in 1997 and went on to become a prominent immigrant rights activist in Colorado. Her decades-long fight for legal status included seeking sanctuary in a Denver church, facing repeated deportation threats from ICE and later being detained in 2025. Despite these challenges, Vizguerra continued advocating for immigrants and workers and received the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award in 2025.
