In the Chesapeake Bay, recycled concrete rubble is proving to be a nursery for young oysters. Scientists have discovered that this crushed concrete can effectively replace the scarce oyster shells needed for habitat restoration. Oysters grown on this recycled material show growth and survival rates comparable to those cultivated on natural shells.
