Dentist fails to inform root canal risks, patient takes second treatment after suffering pain; Court orders doctor to pay Rs 2 lakh

A Delhi consumer commission has ordered a dentist to pay Rs 2 lakh to a woman who paid Rs 1.10 lakh for root canal treatment, crowns and veneers and later underwent corrective dental treatment costing Rs 1.38 lakh after experiencing pain and other problems. The commission did not find medical negligence but held that the dentist failed to establish informed consent and proper treatment documentation.
