Delhi air particles hampering pollution fight by fettering sunlight, weakening winds: Study

Air particles in Delhi obstruct sunlight, which subsequently affects wind strength and pollution dispersal. A recent study highlights that aerosols reduce the surface heating necessary for air movement. Researchers observed significant PM2.5 levels during high pollution episodes in late 2023. The findings indicate a need for improved air-quality forecasts and accurate representation of pollution interactions. Targeted emission reductions across major sources remain essential for combating pollution levels effectively.
