Britain is deploying concrete reef cubes and scallop shells to revive native oyster populations. These structures aim to provide essential hard surfaces for young oysters to attach and grow. Oyster numbers have drastically declined, necessitating this engineering-driven ecological restoration effort. The project combines adult and juvenile oysters with recycled shells for a robust foundation. Success will be measured by oyster survival, reproduction, and the return of a healthy marine ecosystem.
