Arizona removed invasive bullfrogs and rebuilt native frog habitat; Chiricahua leopard frog breeding sites grew from 7 in 2013 to 19 by 2019

Efforts to revive the Chiricahua leopard frog habitat in Southeastern Arizona encountered severe obstacles. Following the eradication of bullfrogs, the restoration initiative reported an increase in both breeding sites and frog numbers. However, the emergence of chytrid fungus has cast a shadow on the future of these frogs, necessitating ongoing monitoring and intervention to secure their recovery.
