Medical leave exhausted, leave without pay option exercised; when and if termination will follow? What does labour law say

Employees exceeding their leave quota may face termination if it's coupled with poor performance and lack of communication. Indian labour laws mandate a due process for terminating permanent employees due to illness or excessive absence, requiring notice, a hearing, and potential medical evaluation. While employers can terminate for genuine, long-term ill-health, notice pay or salary in lieu is still required.
