Website of 50th Chennai Book Fair scheduled in Jan 27 unveiled

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker JCD.Prabhakar unveiled the logo and website of the 50th Chennai Book Fair to be organized by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India (BAPASI), to be held from January 7-19, 2027, at the sprawling YMCA Ground in Nandanam in the city. The logo and website launch for the Golden Jubilee edition of the Chennai Book Fair saw addresses by A. Loyola Mani, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Textbook Corporation and Ms.Kavitha, Chennai District Library Officer, with R.S. Shanmugam, President of BAPASI, delivering the welcome address. A special video titled 50 Years of the Chennai Book Fair was screened at the gathering, which was attended by a larger number of BAPASI executive committee members, publishers, and book enthusiasts. Shanmugam said the Book Fair stands as the largest book fair in Asia in terms of visitor turnout and book sales. It serves as a vital platform for powerfully showcasing the excellence of the Tamil language to the entire world through books. We have planned to organize various new events during the upcoming Golden Jubilee year edition, designed to benefit people from all walks of life, including readers, students, the younger generation, teachers, creators, writers, entrepreneurs, and publishers. The special events line up for the Golden Jubilee edition included honoring Nobel Laureates and Multilingual Scholars, Consolidating Global Tamil Associations, having school and college students as Book Fair Ambassadors, to encourage reading among the younger generation but also to actively promote various book fair-related events on social media, in tune with todays digital world.
