Psychology says people who say 'actually' before correcting themselves may be softening social disagreement

Saying actually before a correction does not necessarily reveal that someone is anxious, conflict-avoidant or unusually polite.But it can demonstrate an interesting feature of human communication: people do not simply exchange facts; they also manage relationships while exchanging them.
