Psychology says parents who save their kids old toys may be holding on to more than childhood memories

An old toy may be valuable for a reason that has nothing to do with its price. It can represent a relationship, a stage of family life, a caregiving role and a version of the child who no longer exists in quite the same way. Sometimes, keeping the toy is simply a way of keeping the memory within reach.
