No profit does not negate insider trading charge: SC

The Supreme Court ruled insider trading laws are breached even with minimal profit. It overturned a tribunal order exonerating Tara Jewels chairman and daughters. The court stated possession of unpublished price sensitive information is sufficient for violation. Trades made while possessing such information are presumed motivated by it. SEBI's penalties were upheld, though one was reduced.
