Mumbai movie tickets may get costlier: BMC proposes 500% hike in theatre tax on cinema halls

Mumbai theatre tax news: Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has proposed a substantial increase in theatre tax for cinema halls and entertainment venues. The proposal suggests tax rates of Rs 400 for multiplex cinemas and Rs 200 for single-screen AC cinemas. This proposed change awaits approval from the Urban Development Department of the state government. The existing rates will apply until the new rates are sanctioned and notified.
