Kerala to be officially called Keralam after Cabinet nod

The Union Cabinet has approved renaming Kerala to Keralam. This move fulfills a long-standing demand to restore the state's historical Malayalam name. The decision follows a unanimous resolution by the Kerala Legislative Assembly. State BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar supports the initiative, citing civilisational and linguistic heritage. The renaming is symbolic and will not alter administrative structures.
