From Mars to interstellar space, NASAs new giant antenna is now operational

NASA activated its new 34-meter radio antenna, DSS-23, on August 3, 2026. This new antenna will help communicate with spacecraft across the solar system and beyond. DSS-23 entered service after months of calibration and testing between May and July. The antenna is part of NASA's ongoing effort to expand its Deep Space Network capacity. This expansion supports a growing number of complex space missions and future exploration endeavors.
