Mumbai wakes up to cloudy skies on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi

Mumbai began Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 under cloudy skies as the IMD issued an orange alert for Mumbai and Thane, warning of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places. The city recorded 49.55 mm rainfall in its island city area and 66.46 mm in the eastern suburbs in the 24 hours till Monday morning
