Support document seems to confirm new Apple TV 4K is coming

Macworld Apple doesnt usually comment on rumors. If they do, the comment is so vague that it doesnt really say anything. But sometimes Apple slips up and inadvertently lets us know something new is coming. As spotted by MacRumors , an update to a lossless audio support document dated September 28, 2026, states that Hi-Res Lossless is available only on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation or later). The current Apple TV 4K box is a third-generation device, so the or later reference appears to be a reference to the rumored new Apple TV box. Or, as MacRumors states, Apple could be future-proofing, or its an error. Since its still there, its probably not an error. The last line of text pictured above could be an indicator that the new Apple TV box is on its way. Apple Previous reports have said that Apple plans to release a new Apple TV that will have a faster processor and Siri AI support, as well as a new HomePod mini with an updated chip and refreshed colors. Apple is expected to announce these new products in late October or early November in time for the holiday shopping season. Last June, the Apple TV was part of the companys price hikes . The Apple TV 4K went up $70 to $199, while the Ethernet-equipped version shot up $100 to $249. Its not clear if Apple will raise the price again for the new Apple TV box, but since its expected to get a memory boost, another price hike is possible. But considering Apple raised the Apple TV 4K prices by a larger margin than other devices, theres a good chance theyll stay the same.
