Lower or nil TDS certificate: Govt plans online application route to reduce compliance burden

The government is preparing rules to enable online applications for nil- or lower-TDS certificates under the Income Tax Act, 2025. The move could simplify compliance, reduce excess TDS deductions and help eligible taxpayers avoid refund delays.
