Toxic Movie Review: A magnetic Yash leads an ambitious gangster drama where women matter

There is a moment in Toxic when Yash walks into a room and the film seems to know exactly what it wants from him. The music rises, the frame makes space for him and, for a few seconds, there is no doubt about who owns the screen. That confidence runs through much of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. Geetu Mohandas' film is big, loud and visually assured, but it is also trying to do a lot. It wants to be a gangster film, a family drama, a psychological story and a stylised action spectacle at the same time. Sometimes, that ambition works beautifully. At other times, the film feels as though it is moving faster than its own story.
