India to add about 8 GW wind energy capacity in FY27: MNRE

India plans to increase its wind energy capacity by 7.5 to 8 GW in the current fiscal year. The country had already achieved over 6 GW of capacity addition in 2025-26, indicating positive sector growth. Investment considerations show that this capacity increase will require around 50 crore annually. Partnerships with European companies are anticipated to enhance offshore wind development and technology transfer.
