Science says reindeer eyes turn blue in winter, and the strange transformation may help them see a world humans can't

The shift in eye color does not happen because reindeer suddenly produce blue pigment. Instead, scientists have traced it to a phenomenon known as structural coloration, in which microscopic structures alter the way light is reflected.
