Psychology says people who keep their wallet in exactly the same pocket may be relying on automatic behavior

Keeping a wallet in the same place every time may have less to do with a deliberate preference and more to do with the brain learning a familiar cue-and-response pattern. Instead of repeatedly deciding where to put it, a person develops a consistent routine that makes the behavior automatic and reduces the need for conscious effort.
