Psychology says people raise their voice pitch when they want you to listen may be doing without realising it

It can be tempting to interpret a higher-pitched voice as a sign of anxiety, insecurity or low confidence, but psychology does not support such a straightforward conclusion. Vocal pitch can shift for many reasons, including emphasis, emotional arousal, social context, turn-taking, perceived status and a speakers effort to make their words more noticeable.
