Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan gave $4 million to save a 600-year-old Hawaiian fishpond from developmentnow the 102-acre historic site will remain protected for the community forever

The 600-year-old Hawaiian fishpond is now protected indefinitely after receiving a $4 million donation from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. Zuckerberg and Chan have an estate on Kauais north shore, but they wont have any ownership of the fishpond. Nonprofits will now use the area as an outdoor classroom.
