India performs world's third-most transplants, yet demand outpaces supply

India's organ transplant situation is dire, with 3.9 lakh needed just in 2021, emphasizing the escalating demand. Unfortunately, only a fraction of necessary kidney and liver transplants were executed, and the distribution of these surgeries is heavily skewed towards a few states. Additionally, while women participate in organ donation, they receive significantly fewer transplants than their health conditions require.
