Greenland's Petermann Glacier lost a large iceberg, its biggest since 2012. Scientists have monitored this glacier's floating ice tongue for seven years. Two more large ice islands are expected to break away soon. This calving event offers a rare chance to study Arctic ice formations. The detached ice mass could also create hazards for shipping operations.
