GST Council meeting likely to be postponed, say sources

The 57th GST Council meeting, scheduled for September 12, is likely to be postponed, with a final decision expected after consultations with states. The meeting was set to discuss several ease-of-doing-business measures, including protecting buyers ITC when suppliers fail to deposit GST, simplifying taxation of corporate guarantees, allowing ITC on certain employee-related expenses and enabling small businesses to obtain GST registrations across multiple states.
