Five Chinese students build a low-cost device that lets divers send messages underwater without radio

Five Chinese students have developed DiveGuard, a low-cost underwater communication system that uses acoustic signals to let divers and surface teams exchange short text messages. The project was a finalist at the 2026 Conrad Challenge Innovation Summit and received a Power Pitch Award.
