Built alongside a 134-kilometer canal, the passage helps migratory fish move between habitats that had become separated by human infrastructure. Instead of changing the entire waterway, engineers created a dedicated corridor where fish can navigate around the blockage. That small intervention has a larger ecological purpose. Connected waterways give fish access to breeding, feeding and seasonal habitats.
