Bengaluru GST officer wanted Rs 20 lakh to close a tax case, caught taking Rs 8 lakh from businessman

A Central GST official, Mohit Pratap Singh, has been apprehended for allegedly soliciting a bribe of twenty lakh rupees from a businessman to settle a tax evasion case. During the operation, he was found in possession of eight lakh rupees, which he received through an agent, Salman Sheik, who was also arrested. Both have been placed in judicial custody as investigations continue.
