After two decades of legal deadlock, accused 9/11 mastermind gets a 2028 trial date

A U.S. Air Force judge has ordered Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the accused mastermind of the September 11 attacks, and three co-defendants to stand trial at Guantanamo Bay beginning June 5, 2028. The date follows decades of legal delays, failed plea agreements and renewed court battles over the military prosecution case.
